With a minimum approach force to the workpiece it allows high axial loads and approximately zero deflections.
The SMI16 worksupport element was developed for special applications where centrifugal forces, pressure drops or overloads are to be expected and conventional support elements can no longer be used, regardless of the operating pressure.
Hydraulic pre-locking of the SMI 16 minimises the contact force against the workpiece. From an operating pressure of 110 bar, the final mechanical locking is automatically activated. The workpiece then remains in locking mode until it is unlocked hydraulically.
Errors in the workpiece caused by the support
bolt yielding are avoided and the surface quality
is improved.
